[Edit]Bill Henderson was only with the Count Basie Orchestra for one year and he was barely documented singing with the classic ensemble, so this live CD has its historic value even if, at 26 minutes, it is inexcusably brief. Henderson runs through ten songs from his repertoire of the period which ranges from the timeless ("If I Could Be With You" and "Broadway") to the dated ("You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You" and "Yesterday"). He manages to avoid merely filling in for Joe Williams and, at least during the brief period he was with Basie, Henderson carved out his own niche. The recording quality is decent but it is a pity that there is not twice as much music.
