Details
[Edit]A talented pianist from Atlanta, Bill Anschell leads a fine quintet on this set through a wide variety of material. Six songs are the pianist's originals and these range from a tribute to drummer Ed Blackwell ("E.B.'s New Dream") and the blues "My Baby Won't Takadimi" to a couple particularly spirited jams ("Crabbin'" and "Beignet Boogie"). In addition, the group (which features solos from tenor saxophonist Rick Bell on two songs and guitarist Scott Sawyer) plays a transformed "Street of Dreams," the Beatles' "Nowhere Man," and a heated jam on "Solar." This CD is full of high-quality post-bop music.
