[Edit]Blessed with a devastatingly seductive baritone voice and a brilliant ear for production and arrangement, Barry White was an imposing force. His many records were (and remain) reliable go-to's for anybody looking to set the mood. After paying dues throughout the '60s, he finally hit it big in 1972, discovering and producing the platinum-selling girl group Love Unlimited. He released a gang of albums (both solo and with the Love Unlimited Orchestra) and scored several huge hits throughout the rest of the '70s, continuing to record right until his death in 1999. White's discography is still mined for film and TV soundtracks, and he's been sampled countless times by various hip-hop producers. The Ultimate Collection is relatively short at just 12 songs, but it includes most of his best-known singles, including "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little," "Can't Get Enough of Your Love Baby," and "You're the First, the Last, My Everything."
