Details

[Edit]

On the second of three Annette Hanshaw Fountain LPs (all of which deserve to be fully reissued on CD), the 16-year-old singer (who during this era ended each song with a "That's all!") sounds consistently delightful. On most selections, she is accompanied by pianist Irving Brodsky. Clarinetist Jimmy Lytell helps out on two songs, and three tunes also include the Original Memphis Five. Other than "That's Why I Love You" from September 1926, (a copy of which was not discovered until Volume 1 had already come out), all of the music is from January-April 1927. Highlights include "He's the Last Word," "I'm Gonna Meet My Sweetie Now," "It All Depends On You" and "Rosy Cheeks."
