Details
[Edit]Paralleling the single releases of "This Here Giraffe," "Brainville" (another simply grand song from Clouds Taste Metallic) in its U.K. form included over its two parts another radio session, only this one of more recent vintage for KCRW in Santa Monica, CA. The first cut featured here is another Clouds song, the wryly titled "Evil Will Prevail." The arrangement is stripped down, Jones providing curious chimes on his electric guitar while Coyne plays acoustic while singing and Drozd adds piano in place of performing drums. It becomes at once a calmer and odder version as a result, a good example of how the Lips can experiment. In a total treat, meanwhile, the gloriously fragile "Put the Waterbug in the Policeman's Ear," here simply called "Waterbug," makes a majestic reappearance, Jones' guitar first sounding like one and then like a muffled orchestra and the song losing nothing with the crisper recording quality. It's all topped off with Coyne's extended retelling of the story of the song during the performance instead of before it.
