[Edit]The Beatles began their long-running relationship with the BBC in 1962, after passing an audition to earn a spot on Teenagers Turn—Here We Go. The string of sessions recorded during the three years that followed—dozens of live-in-the-studio appearances that included performances of early hits, rarities and a variety of covers—is compiled on this double-length collection. The energy of the young quartet throughout is electrifying, whether they’re blasting through versions of songs by Carl Perkins, Little Richard, Elvis and Chuck Berry, harmonising tunes by The Teddy Bears (“To Know Her Is To Love Her”) and The Crickets (“Don’t Ever Change”), covering R&B singer Arthur Alexander (including an impeccable take on "Soldier of Love”) or playing freshly written originals by Lennon and McCartney.
